Early morning breakfast. Thereafter drive into Lake Manyara National Park (330 sq km) on the base of the Great Rift Valley, for the game drive. This park is one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake located at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The park’s varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, Lake Manyara’s unique tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos. Lake Manyara is a scenic gem, with a setting extolled by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa”. From the entrance gate, along the roadside, blue monkeys scamper nimbly between the ancient mahogany trees, dainty bush buck tread warily through the shadows, and out sized forest horn bills honk cacophonous in the high canopy. Picnic luch will be served in the park. After game drive, drive back to Arusha for the drop off.
